The show date for 2009 is now the 31st October and not the 28th November. Internet users are requested to pass this onto all your contacts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 27th September 2009 Annual Show & Craft Day Congratulations are extended to all of the trophy winners in the annual show together with sincere thanks to all those members who entered. The entry was up by 33 sticks on the preceeding year with a total of 213 sticks submitted by 25% of our membership. Sincere thanks to Mr Steve Barrett of Sherborne, Dorset for his expertise and committment to the judging role and the friendships renewed and those forged. The 'Working with Horn' feature planned for June has been brought forward to April, following the AGM. Steam straightening sticks has been moved from April to June and an additional demonstration is currently being sought for this date. Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd dda pawb 14th October 2008                          Dare Valley Country Park Information has been received from the Manager at Dare Valley Country Park that the facilities we use for our meetings will be unavailable between November 2008 and the end of March 2009 due to refurbishment and building works. Clearly our quarterly meeting scheduled for February 2009 will need to be reconvened to another suitable location and we are currently working to find that location. Due to the planning necessary and the circulation of our Newsletter / Agenda for 2009 our April meeting will also be reconvened in order to minimise inconvenience to members. Information has been received from Paul at Isca Hardwoods / Woodcrafts to the effect that the company are relocating from Nine Mile Point Estate, Cwmfelinfach to The Craft Units, Tredegar House, Newport, Gwent. This move is imminent and they will be open for business from the 9th August 2008. The unit is adjacent to the Car Park which is 'Pay & Display', however ISCA Woodcrafts offer the use of a parking permit for their customers. The new location is part of the 17th Century House, Gardens and Estate, which additionally offers other craft units, a Visitor Centre and Tea rooms. Tredegar House is located a minute off the M4 at Junction 28. Take the A48 road in the direction of Cardiff and follow the brown 'Heritage' signs into the Tredegar House complex.   03 December 2007                                                 CONGRATULATIONS Sincere congratulations are extended to members Arwyn George and Gethin Davies in respect of their placings in the 2007 National Championship. Arwyn achieved 6th Place overall in the Open Classes and Gethin was placed 2nd overall in the Novice Classes.  18th November 2007                                              TOOLS Etc   NEW!!! Full details, schedules and entry forms are available on the Downloads Page for you to print off should you wish to enter. Exhibitors entry ticket forwarded prior to the show, additional tickets available at a reduced entry fee of £10.50. Lets help our Welsh Border colleagues in promoting Stickmaking in the region.

23 August 2007 South Wales Stickmakers Annual Show 22 September 2007 Classes, Rules and Entry Form for the Show on the 22 September 2007 have now been posted out. In the event of non receipt these forms are available for members to download and print. Alternatively the Show Secretary is known to accept entries on the day if sweet talked! Remember entry is confined to paid-up members only. Those in arrears or new members may enter the show providing membership is paid before racking sticks.

July 2007 South Wales Stickmakers enter the 21st Century in the establishment of this site on the information super highway. It is hoped that this site will help to fulfill the constant need for information, news, views and activities of our members and the much wider interest of similar minded persons and groups around the UK. Hopefully it will also additionally attract new members to the craft and hobby of stickmaking.
