Stickmaking Organisations
  • The British Stickmakers Guild
    National Organisation formed in 1984 by a small group of people who were interested in the very ancient craft of making or collecting walking sticks and canes. The Guilds object being the cultivation of collecting and the art of making walking sticks, canes, staffs and shepherds crooks. Quarterly Magazine entitled 'The Stickmaker' accompanies annual membership.

  • The Hants and Dorset Stickmakers
    Formed in 2004, with a membership of about 40, this is a self-help group, meeting regularly at Woodlands Village Hall (near Verwood) Dorset.

  • Calleva Stickdressers
    Calleva Stickdressers are a group from Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Buckinghamshire and Sussex, with a current membership of around 35. They hold two National Stick shows a year at Highclere and Newbury.

  • Durham Stickmakers

  • Border Stick Dressers Association
    An interesting site for this Association of which Prince Charles (The Prince of Wales)has become patron.

Other Stickmakers & Sites of Interest
  • Steve Barrett, Stickdresser and Carver
    A well respected and sought after stick dresser and judge, who is currently based in Dorset. The sticks shown on this site are examples and represent the wide spectrum of work that can be produced.

  • Bobs Stickmaking Pages
    Walking sticks, market sticks, thumbsticks, crooks and staffs hand-crafted in wood, horn and antler by stickmaker Bob Goddard, in West Yorkshire.

  • Wren Country Sticks
    A very interesting site with excellent photography displaying many completed sticks. A source of inspiration for aspiring stickmakers owned and maintained by the well known Midlands stickmaker Mr Joe Musialowski.
